Diamond Greetings -

As I sat with my patient, a 55-year old inmate who had spent his last eight years in solitary confinement, I learned how his violent past had led to beatings, betrayals, and a hardening of his hopeless heart. It seemed that anything I said was rebuffed with stony cynicism.
